The immense Amazon Basin covers more than half of Peru and is home to the greatest diversity of plants and animals on the planet. The rivers and tributaries of the great Amazon contain over two thousand species of fish, and the plants and trees in the area provide shelter for over three hundred mammals and approximately eight thousand bird species. Monkeys, caiman, anteaters, tapir, armadillos, sloths, giant otters, river dolphin, parrots, toucans and macaws can all be seen, on a good day, from your lodge tucked deep in the forest. The National Parks of Manu and Tambopata offer excellent forest trails, jungle excursions and canoeing adventures.
The lodge sits in what is claimed to be one of the most diverse eco systems in the world.
Sandoval Lake Lodge is one extended structure consisting of a large main dining room and lounge with comfy chairs and 25 double-occupancy rooms (50 beds) arranged in two wings. Each room has a private bathroom with shower and hot water.
The Tambopata Research Centre is a spartan yet comfortable 13 bedroom lodge built with the object of lodging tourists and researchers alike and of protecting the adjacent macaw clay lick.
The Reserva Amazonica is the perfect spot for exploring the Peruvian Amazon. The lodge has 41 large native thatched cottages; all have private facilties, mosquito nets and hammocks for you to enjoy the views of the jungle.
