The area surrounding African Horseback Safaris is a truly spectacular area in which to ride, and this new camp, Macatoo, although certainly more luxurious than its predeccessor, still retains its happy camp atmosphere and the spirit of the Okavango wilderness. The sheer beauty and diversity of the area makes it an ideal venue for African Horseback Safaris.
This Classic Hemmingway style camp provides you with the creature comforts whilst allowing you to experience the wild beauty of the African bush. The camp features large twin bedded tents, each with their own en-suite shower and loo. Centrally there is a large furnished mess tent. Each tent is secluded with a spacious verandah and armchairs overlooking the flood plain dotted with palm trees. Tucked away in the trees is a small pool.
The horses at African Horseback Safaris are a variety of Thoroughbreds, Namibian Hanovarians, Arabs and Kalahari-Arab crosses, ranging from 14-16.2 hands (140-165cm). In addition to horseback safaris activities include game drives, bird walks, night drives, seasonal boating, canoeing and fishing. On the longer safaris guests have the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding out to a mobile fly-camp.
